We outline our journey towards sustainable biochar production. This section details our pilot plant and ambitious expansion plans designed to significantly impact soil health and carbon sequestration.
Our journey begins with the establishment of a pilot plant at a large managed estate in county Wiltshire, UK. This facility is designed to produce 1,764 tons of biochar annually, generating 4,144 CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs) and 1,000 MWh of electricity each year.
We have secured the site with the landowner and have finalized arrangements with a specialized firm to optimize our operations. Additionally, we have secured a comprehensive offtake agreement with a reputable agricultural business for the entire production of our biochar. The feedstock, consisting of sustainable woodchips, has been contracted with a large-scale forest services business to supply 7,938 tons per year for the first five years of the pilot phase.
Starting in 2025, Phase 1 aims to scale up to an annual production of 92,000 tons of biochar by 2029. This phase is projected to generate 216,000 CORCs and 156,000 MWh of electricity per year. We will build additional plants, both co-located with the pilot plant and at new sites across the UK.
Phase 2, set for 2030 to 2033, aims to further expand our production capacity to 144,000 tons of biochar annually by 2033. This phase is expected to generate 339,000 CORCs and 245,250 MWh of electricity per year. We will continue scaling up operations at existing sites and developing new facilities to meet the growing demand for sustainable biochar solutions.
By defining and detailing our production milestones, we highlight our commitment to sustainability and our strategic plan to contribute significantly to soil health and carbon sequestration through increased biochar production and the generation of CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs).
